Like most HVAC companies, we offer a bi-annual HVAC maintenance to give your A/C a tune-up before spring and to give your furnace a tune-up before fall. So the question we often get asked is, “Is fall HVAC maintenance really important?” We believe it is.
Why Is Fall HVAC Maintenance Important
We recommend yearly tune-ups for your heating system. This goes beyond blowing the debris and dust out of your unit. Fall furnace maintenance will keep your HVAC system running more efficiently and it will prevent small problems from getting bigger. Many warranties also require routine maintenance be done by a professional HVAC technician. Is fall HVAC maintenance really important? It is if you wan’t to prolong the life of your heating system.
When Should I Schedule Heater Maintenance
Ideally you should have your fall HVAC maintenance completed before you use your furnace or heating system for the first time. Early cool weather may make this virtually impossible. We offer the Comfort Assurance Program to help customers get the maintenance they need without worrying about when it’s time or wondering if they will remember to call. You don’t want to turn your heater on during a cold spell and realize you have a problem that could have been recognized or prevented if you had your furnace inspected before the season.
What To Expect From Furnace Maintenance
- The vent system should be checked for blockage or leaks. This includes the outside termination and connections in and outside of the furnace.
- lubricate moving parts
- Combustion gases must be analyzed and compared to recommended specifications
- The Blower access door will be checked to ensure a good seal
- The heat exchanger will be examined for rust or corrosion.
- Burners will be inspected to make sure they work properly and ignite easily
- Hoses will be checked and the drainage will be examined to make sure there are no leaks or blockage. Condensate drain and traps will be cleaned.
- The blower wheel will be removed and cleaned. Debris around the wheel will be removed.
- An Amp-draw test will determine if the blower is working up to specifications
- Wiring will be inspected for damage
- Filters will be checked and changed as needed
