Thankfully, winter is finally coming to a close and that means that spring is just around the corner. With this change of seasons comes a change in weather. But this change is for the better! During the spring it can be hard to decide between turning on the heat and turning on the air conditioning because temperatures can fluctuate so much. And constantly turning the heat and air on and off can really run up your bills! That’s why ADA Heating and Air wants to give you some tips about how to keep up with the fluctuating temperatures during the spring season.

It’s not always necessary to immediately resort to air conditioning when it gets a little warmer out. Springtime temperatures usually don’t get overly hot, so when you turn on the air you might feel a little bit too chilly. According to Angie’s List, there are a couple options out there that will keep you cool without running up your monthly bills.

Drapes

Invest in drapes! During sunny, spring days the sun can turn your house into a sauna. Drapes help you keep your house a lot cooler during the daytime because they block the sunlight. And, they’re also very stylish too!

Get Out and Grill

Grilling is a great option when the weather starts getting nicer during the spring. And how could you resist the taste of a delicious grilled steak? Yum! Grilling outdoors is a great alternative to using your oven. Ovens generate a lot of heat that can really crank up the temperature inside of your home, so get outside and fire up your grill! Also, with fluctuating temperatures outside, it is easier to deal with them when not also taking into consideration your home, so embrace the outdoors!

Fans

Turning on a ceiling fan is always a great way to cool off your home. But if you don’t have a ceiling fan, a stand-up fan will also do the trick. According to Angie’s List, fans can make your home feel 4 degrees cooler. That can really make a difference when it starts to warm up outside! Also, make sure to use the ventilation fan in your bathroom when you shower. Your hot and steamy shower could be increasing the temperature in your home. The bathroom fan gets rid of the hot, sticky air that could be heating up your home.

Adjust Your Thermostat

Keep some cash in your wallet by simply adjusting your thermostat to the right setting during the springtime. According to energy.gov, your heating and cooling cost takes up most of your electricity bill. And with shifting temperatures during the spring season, this could increase the cost of your energy bill even more. A great way to save your hard-earned cash is to install an automatic thermostat. According to JK Mechanical, these thermostats allow you to pre-set a schedule of times to automatically adjust your thermostat. This is great for when you’re not at home or asleep.

We hope that these tips will save you a little extra cash this spring, and keep your home at a comfortable temperature. ADA Heating and Air proudly serves Danville and Nicholasville, KY and the surrounding Central Kentucky counties.
